Chapter 9 - The Confession

Cameron stepped out from the shadows of a massive shipping container, his hands raised to show he was unarmed.
Seeing Elena barely able to stand made a cold fury burn fiercely in his chest.
Marcus smiled, tightening his grip on Elena’s hospital gown as the rain soaked them all.
He demanded that Cameron toss the flash drive and the paper onto the wet asphalt.
Cameron slowly reached into his pocket and threw the items exactly where Marcus requested.
Marcus ordered one of his armed mercenaries to retrieve the items and verify the data.
While the guard checked the drive, Cameron began to speak loudly over the sound of the storm.
He asked Marcus why he was willing to destroy a billion-dollar empire just to fund a group of terrorists.
Marcus laughed mockingly, proudly bragging that the terrorist syndicate paid ten times what the patents were legally worth.
He confessed to poisoning Elena at the airport and fabricating the police report to frame Cameron.
Marcus declared that with Cameron dead, nobody would ever question his absolute authority over the company.
He raised his weapon, aiming it squarely at Cameron’s chest.
Cameron did not flinch, a dangerous and triumphant smile spreading across his face.
He looked past Marcus and nodded toward the darkness of the shipyard.
Suddenly, the massive floodlights of the shipping yard violently snapped on, blinding everyone.

A dozen FBI tactical vehicles crashed through the perimeter gates, their sirens blaring.
Miller stepped out from behind a container, holding a parabolic microphone that had broadcast Marcus’s entire confession directly to the federal agents.
