Chapter 10 - The New Beginning

The armed mercenaries immediately dropped their weapons, realizing they were completely surrounded by federal agents.

Marcus tried to run, but two FBI agents tackled him to the wet asphalt and slammed handcuffs onto his wrists.

Cameron rushed forward and caught Elena just as her legs gave out from exhaustion.

Paramedics sprinted onto the scene, quickly transferring her onto a secure stretcher to transport her safely back to Mercy General.

Miller opened the armored vehicle, and Hope ran across the wet pavement, throwing her arms around Cameron’s legs in pure joy.

A week later, Cameron walked into a brightly lit, private recovery suite at the hospital.

Elena was sitting up in bed, looking healthy and radiant as she read a story to Hope.

The news was playing quietly in the background, announcing that Cameron had been fully reinstated as CEO and the hostile board members were facing federal prison.

Cameron had legally established a massive trust fund for Hope and offered Elena a high-level executive position in his intelligence division.

They had finally found the peace and security they all so desperately deserved.

Hope ran over and hugged him, calling him her hero while Elena smiled with immense gratitude.

Cameron hugged the child back, feeling a profound sense of family he had never experienced before.

As Elena reached out to accept the employment contract Cameron handed her, the sleeve of her gown slipped down.

Cameron froze, his breath catching sharply in his throat.

Burned deep into the skin of her inner wrist was a small, black serpent eating its own tail.

It was the exact same obscure tattoo worn by the man who had murdered Cameron's father twenty years ago.
