Chapter 5 - The Frame Job

The news broadcast echoed through the small hospital room like a physical blow.

Cameron realized Marcus had orchestrated the entire scenario to frame him for attempted murder.

If Cameron was arrested, the board could legally push through the illegal patent sale without his signature.

He looked down at Hope, who was watching the television with wide, frightened eyes.

Cameron knew he could not surrender to the authorities because they were likely already compromised by Marcus’s money.

He had to protect the child and clear his name, but time was running out.

His phone began to vibrate violently with calls from lawyers, reporters, and the local police department.

He removed the battery from his phone and tossed it into the trash can to prevent GPS tracking.

Cameron turned to his lead security guard, a man named Miller who had served with his father.

He asked Miller if his loyalty belonged to the corporate payroll or to him.

Miller didn’t hesitate, firmly stating that he worked for Cameron, not the board of directors.

Cameron ordered Miller to find a secure safe house off the grid immediately.

Suddenly, the hospital intercom crackled to life with a blaring alarm.

A female automated voice announced a Code Blue in the VIP wing.

Cameron sprinted down the hallway toward Elena’s room, pulling Hope tightly against his side.

Doctors and nurses were rushing through the door with a crash cart.

Through the glass window, Cameron saw Elena convulsing violently on the bed.

A man in a doctor's coat was slipping out the fire exit at the end of the hall, dropping an empty syringe on the floor.
