Chapter 17 - The Miami Summit

The Miami heat was suffocating as they pulled up to a sprawling, whitewashed mansion on Star Island.

Armed Cartel guards lined the manicured lawns, their assault rifles held at the ready.

Victor adjusted his tailored suit, concealing a pair of ceramic knives that would pass through metal detectors.

He offered his arm to Harper, who looked stunning and dangerous in a sleek black dress.

She carried a specialized tablet disguised as a high-end clutch purse.

They walked through the grand double doors, flanked by Arthur and two heavily armed bodyguards.

Mateo sat at the head of a massive mahogany table, sipping rum from a crystal glass.

He wore a white linen suit, a stark contrast to the massive burn scar covering the left side of his face.

"Ah, my brother returns," Mateo mocked, spreading his arms wide in a fake gesture of welcome.

Victor ignored the theatrics, tossing a stack of encrypted hard drives onto the table.

"The access codes to the eastern seaboard," Victor stated flatly.

"Now hand over Marcus's markers."

Mateo snapped his fingers, and a guard slid a manila folder across the polished wood.

"The debt is forgiven," Mateo smiled, though his eyes remained deadly cold.

"But I must admit, Victor, I don't plan on letting you walk out of here alive."

Dozens of laser sights suddenly appeared in the room, painting red dots across Victor and Arthur's chests.

"I knew you were predictable, Mateo," Victor said, completely unfazed.

Harper casually placed her clutch on the table and tapped the fingerprint scanner.
