Chapter 10 - The Empire Falls

Victor rolled out of the way with barely an inch to spare.
He grabbed Harper’s hand, and together they burst out of the burning warehouse into the cool night air.
Police sirens wailed in the distance, but Arthur already had a secure vehicle waiting in the shadows.
They watched from afar as Declan’s empire literally burned to the ground.
Weeks later, the dust finally settled over the city.
Victor’s legitimate holding company absorbed Declan’s old routes, cleaning up the corruption for good.
Harper’s treacherous manager was arrested, and Victor quietly fired the rest of the agency's board.
He gave Harper total ownership of a brand new, fully funded design firm.
On a sunny Tuesday morning, Harper stepped into Victor’s private elevator, carrying a perfectly brewed coffee.
Victor smiled, a genuine, warm expression that still shocked his employees.
He pulled her close, kissing her deeply as the elevator rose toward the penthouse.
They were safe, successful, and finally free from the shadows of his past.
Later that evening, Victor’s private, encrypted phone rang on his desk.
He answered, listening to a voice that sounded like grinding stone.
