Chapter 9 - The Mastermind Revealed
The entire ballroom erupted into complete, absolute chaos as the wealthy guests frantically fled for the exits.
I stood perfectly still on the luxurious carpet, keeping my silver pistol fiercely aimed at Julian.
"My private sniper has a clear shot through the upper balcony window," Julian gloated loudly.
"If you pull that trigger, you are completely dead before I even hit the floor," he threatened.
I smiled calmly, completely ignoring the deadly red dot resting on my chest.
"You really should have paid closer attention to the people you hire, Julian," I replied smoothly.
The glowing red laser suddenly shifted completely away from my chest and landed directly in the center of Julian’s forehead.
Julian froze entirely, his arrogant smile melting into an expression of sheer, unadulterated terror.
Vanessa slowly walked out from the upper balcony shadows, holding the heavy sniper rifle perfectly steady.
"The original sniper was very happy to accept a larger bribe from me," Vanessa announced over the room's sound system.
Julian’s hands began to shake violently as he realized he was entirely cornered.
I pulled a small remote control from my pocket and pressed the primary button.
The massive video screens around the ballroom instantly flickered to life.
A crystal-clear audio recording began playing loudly for everyone left in the building to hear.
It was the complete, undeniable confession of Julian admitting to multiple frauds, attempted murders, and massive cartel money laundering.
The heavy ballroom doors suddenly burst open, and dozens of heavily armed FBI agents flooded the room.
"Julian, drop your weapons and surrender immediately!" the lead federal agent screamed.
Julian realized his perfect, wealthy life was completely and utterly destroyed.
In a desperate, wildly unpredictable move, he lunged off the stage and violently grabbed a terrified hotel waitress.
