Chapter 18 - The Ultimate Override

I aggressively pushed Julian’s lifeless, incredibly heavy body off my legs and sprinted frantically toward the glass tank.
The water had completely reached the absolute top of the sealed enclosure, leaving Lily desperately pressing her face against the thick glass, holding her final, fading breath.
I violently smashed my heavy pistol against the reinforced glass with all my remaining strength, but the military-grade material did not even slightly crack.
The bright digital timer on the electrical grid rapidly flashed deep red, indicating the deadly shockwave was exactly ten seconds away from fully discharging.
I looked desperately at the heavily damaged control console Julian had brutally smashed with his titanium fist.
The main wiring was completely exposed, actively sparking and smoking wildly in the damp air.
Alexander was slowly limping toward the massive steel exit door, completely ignoring my dying sister in a desperate attempt to save his own life.
"Alexander, give me the override code right this second!" I screamed violently, aiming my weapon directly at the back of his head.
He stopped and turned around, offering a cold, entirely emotionless sneer despite his agonizing injuries.
"The tank is fully integrated with the Obsidian Circle's primary financial mainframe, Elena," he explained coldly.
"If I input the master override code to open the glass doors, it will automatically initiate a complete emergency purge of our entire global banking network."
He stood incredibly tall, projecting his terrifying authority even while heavily bleeding on a dirty stone floor.
"You must choose right now: save your pathetic, weak sister, or inherit the keys to a fifty-billion-dollar empire completely intact."
The digital timer aggressively hit five seconds.
I did not even blink, nor did I hesitate for a single, fleeting fraction of a moment.
I aggressively raised my silver pistol and shot Alexander directly in his uninjured kneecap.
He screamed in pure, unexpected agony, violently collapsing to the flooded stone floor.
I sprinted toward him, aggressively grabbing his bleeding hand and dragging him violently across the rough stone.
I forcefully slammed his bloody thumb directly onto the glowing biometric scanner attached to the ruined control console.
The sophisticated system beeped loudly, instantly reading the supreme leader's living, undeniable DNA signature.
A massive, incredibly loud mechanical grinding noise echoed violently through the chamber as the heavy glass doors of the tank suddenly sprang wide open.

Hundreds of gallons of freezing water flooded rapidly out onto the floor, carrying my completely unconscious sister aggressively out of the deadly enclosure.
The digital timer instantly went black, permanently disarming the lethal electrical charge just one second before total detonation.
