Chapter 1 - The Devastating Counter

Julian’s heavy hand sliced through the air with terrifying speed.
He fully expected the brutal impact to send me crashing to the floor.
He expected tears, submission, and a broken spirit.
Instead, my left arm snapped upward like a coiled spring.
I intercepted his wrist mere inches from my cheek.
The loud smack of flesh meeting bone echoed through the dining room.
Julian gasped, his eyes widening in sudden, unadulterated shock.
Before his brain could even process the block, I stepped directly into his personal space.
I pivoted my hips, grabbed his forearm with both hands, and twisted sharply to the right.
A sickening crack filled the sudden silence.
Julian dropped to his knees, screaming in pure agony as his wrist fractured under my grip.
I did not let go.
I leaned down until my lips were right next to his ear.
"Before I became a corporate analyst, I spent six years training in an underground Krav Maga fighting ring," I whispered pleasantly.
I released his mangled arm and shoved him backward onto the shattered porcelain.
Julian scrambled away like a terrified animal, cradling his broken wrist against his chest.
His perfect, handsome face was completely twisted with pain and humiliation.
"You are a total psychopath!" he shrieked, struggling to his feet.
I crossed my arms and offered him a polite, icy smile.
"This is my condo, Julian, and you have exactly three minutes to pack your things and leave."
He backed toward the front door, his eyes darting around the room in absolute terror.
"You will deeply regret this, Elena," he spat, fumbling with the doorknob.
"My family has enough money to destroy your entire pathetic life."
He slammed the door behind him, leaving me alone in the messy dining room.
I let out a long sigh, feeling a profound sense of relief that his true colors had shown so early.
I grabbed a broom to sweep up the broken plates, ready to call a divorce lawyer in the morning.
Suddenly, my cell phone buzzed loudly from the kitchen counter.
I picked it up and saw Julian’s mother calling.
I answered the call, expecting a hysterical lecture about my terrible behavior.
"You really should have read the marriage documents more carefully before signing them, you foolish girl," his mother sneered.

"What are you talking about?" I demanded, my blood running cold.
"Julian is the legal owner of that condo now, and my men are coming to evict you right this second," she laughed maliciously.
