Chapter 16 - The Arena of Shadows

"Drop the old man and step away, Elena, or she fries right now!" Julian roared hysterically, completely ignoring Alexander's presence.

My sister was desperately slamming her bruised hands against the thick reinforced glass, the freezing water now rising violently up to her neck.

Alexander coughed violently, leaning heavily against the damp stone wall as blood completely soaked his expensive leather shoe.

"Julian, you pathetic idiot, disarm the tank immediately, or she will kill me!" Alexander commanded with absolute fury.

Julian let out a loud, deeply manic laugh, his combat-stimulant-fueled eyes twitching erratically in the harsh light.

"I don't work for you anymore, you dying old fossil!" Julian shrieked aggressively.

"The rival Russian syndicate offered me a hundred million dollars to publicly execute the mighty Alexander Vance and his new heir tonight!"

Julian had completely double-crossed the most dangerous man in the world, playing his own deeply psychotic game of absolute greed.

He slammed his heavy titanium hand forcefully onto the primary control console, instantly locking the massive glass tank's release valves permanently.

"I have exactly two minutes before the automated electrical grid fully charges," Julian gloated, drawing a massive, serrated combat knife with his organic hand.

"Let's see if your fancy Krav Maga can block solid titanium, sweetheart."

I shoved Alexander violently into the muddy water and sprinted aggressively toward Julian, my silver pistol raised.

I fired three rapid, deadly shots directly at his chest, fully intending to end his pathetic life instantly.

The heavy bullets sparked violently and bounced completely off Julian’s torso; he was wearing military-grade tactical ceramic plating beneath his tailored suit.

Before I could adjust my aim for a lethal headshot, Julian lunged forward with impossible, unnatural speed.

His heavy titanium arm swung violently through the air, striking me incredibly hard across the ribcage.

The brutal, devastating impact threw me completely across the flooded stone chamber, sending me crashing violently into a massive stone pillar.

I gasped in pure, agonizing pain, tasting dark, metallic blood instantly filling my mouth as I struggled to breathe.

Julian slowly stalked toward me, completely dragging his heavy serrated knife along the ancient brick wall, creating a terrifying shower of bright orange sparks.

"You broke my wrist, Elena," he whispered sadistically, raising his heavy titanium fist above his head.

"I am going to slowly break every single bone in your beautiful body before I let you watch your sister drown."

I violently rolled to the side just as his heavy metal fist smashed aggressively into the stone floor, completely shattering the ancient cobblestone where my head had just been.
