Chapter 19 - The Fall of the Architect

I dropped heavily to my knees in the freezing water, desperately pulling Lily’s lifeless body into my arms.
I frantically began administering aggressive, continuous CPR, tears streaming violently down my dirty, heavily bruised face.
I begged her to breathe, pumping her chest forcefully while Vanessa sprinted down from the high archway to fiercely guard the main exit.
After thirty agonizing, terrifying seconds, Lily suddenly violently coughed up a massive lungful of freezing water.
She gasped aggressively for air, clinging to my soaking wet dress as she sobbed hysterically in pure, unadulterated shock.
I held her incredibly tight, kissing her forehead repeatedly, an overwhelming wave of profound relief washing entirely over my battered body.
Behind us, a series of massive, highly destructive alarms began violently blaring throughout the ancient underground palace.
Alexander was lying pathetically in the muddy water, staring in absolute, mind-shattering horror at the glowing control console above him.
The massive screen was rapidly deleting thousands of highly encrypted offshore accounts, completely erasing the financial foundation of his global empire in real-time.
"You have absolutely destroyed thirty years of meticulous, brilliant work!" Alexander shrieked, his voice cracking with pure, insane desperation.
"You just donated fifty billion dollars to a dozen random international charities, you incredibly foolish child!"
I slowly stood up, helping my trembling sister securely to her feet while keeping my cold eyes fiercely locked on the broken architect of my suffering.
"I didn't want your blood money, Alexander, and I absolutely never wanted to be your ruthless heir," I stated with chilling, absolute calm.
"I simply wanted to ensure that the Obsidian Circle could never, ever afford to hunt my family again."
The heavy steel doors of the catacombs suddenly burst completely open, and a highly armed tactical extraction team wearing Interpol badges aggressively flooded the room.
Vanessa had secretly sent the anonymous, highly detailed GPS coordinates and all the cartel evidence directly to the international authorities hours ago.
The heavily armed police immediately surrounded the bleeding, defeated crime lord, forcefully dragging him aggressively to his feet.
Alexander stared at me with pure, unadulterated hatred as the heavy steel handcuffs clicked violently securely around his wrists.
"This is absolutely not over, Elena," he hissed viciously as they dragged him roughly toward the dark stairwell.
"I am the Sovereign," he screamed insanely, "I will rebuild the shadow empire from my prison cell!"

I simply turned my back on the pathetic, broken old man, completely ignoring his empty, desperate threats.
His massive empire was completely gone, his incredibly loyal army was entirely unpaid, and he was officially just a dying criminal facing a lifetime behind thick concrete walls.
