Chapter 5 - The Corporate Ambush

My blood turned to absolute ice as I stared at the flashing red warning.
My younger sister, Lily, worked as a late-night data entry clerk on the fourteenth floor of my corporate building.
Julian knew exactly how much I loved her and was actively using her as brutal leverage.
I grabbed a sleek, black tactical jacket and a concealed weapon from my weapons locker.
I drove my untraceable motorcycle through the city, breaking every single speed limit.
I arrived at the towering glass skyscraper and slipped in through the underground maintenance tunnels.
The main elevators were completely disabled, so I sprinted up fourteen flights of emergency stairs.
I kicked open the heavy fire door and stepped quietly into the silent office floor.
The cubicles were entirely empty, the computer screens glowing eerily in the dark.
I crept toward the main executive boardroom at the end of the long hallway.
I heard Julian’s arrogant voice echoing loudly from behind the frosted glass doors.
"Your sister is a very stubborn woman, Lily, but she will sign the trust over to save your life," Julian sneered.
I burst through the boardroom doors, my weapon raised and aimed directly at Julian’s chest.
Julian was sitting in the CEO's chair, holding a terrifyingly sharp hunting knife.
He had the blade pressed firmly against my terrified sister’s throat.
"Drop the gun, Elena, or she bleeds out right here on the expensive carpet," Julian demanded.
I slowly lowered my weapon, calculating the exact distance between us.
Before I could surrender the gun, the large presentation screen behind Julian suddenly flickered to life.
A live video feed appeared, showing massive stacks of cash and illegal narcotics.
Julian’s face went completely pale as he stared at the screen.
"You aren't just bankrupt, Julian," a mysterious female voice echoed from the room's hidden speakers.
May you like
"You have been actively stealing millions from a very violent international cartel, and they finally found you."
The boardroom doors slammed shut behind me, and a cold metal barrel was pressed firmly against the back of my head.
