Chapter 15 - The Wolf and the Viper

The heavy, oppressive silence in the grand ballroom felt like a physical weight pressing aggressively against my chest.
Alexander stood completely relaxed, supremely confident that his terrifying ultimatum had entirely broken my spirit.
I slowly reached up and removed the elegant silver wolf mask from my face, tossing it carelessly onto the polished marble floor.
I looked directly into my biological father’s cold gray eyes and offered him a deeply mocking, icy smile.
"You completely misunderstood the primary lesson I learned in those underground fighting rings, Alexander," I whispered softly.
Before his brain could even begin to register my words, my hand became an absolute blur of violent motion.
I drew the razor-sharp tactical blade from my elegant updo and drove it violently through the top of Alexander’s expensive leather shoe, pinning his foot permanently to the hardwood floor.
Alexander roared in genuine, unadulterated agony, his sophisticated facade completely shattering in an instant.
The entire ballroom erupted into absolute chaos as hundreds of elite guards aggressively drew their heavy automatic weapons.
I grabbed Alexander’s expensive silk tie, violently yanking him downward, and pressed the cold barrel of my silver pistol directly under his chin.
"Tell Julian to drain the tank right this second, or I will gladly blow your brains all over this priceless art collection!" I screamed desperately.
Vanessa instantly drew her own heavy weapons, expertly shooting out the massive crystal chandeliers above us.
The heavy glass fixtures crashed brutally onto the crowded dance floor, plunging the entire grand ballroom into complete, chaotic darkness.
The panicked billionaires and cartel leaders stampeded violently toward the heavy oak doors, desperately trampling each other to escape the sudden warzone.
Alexander violently gritted his teeth, completely ignoring the intense, agonizing pain in his pinned foot.
"You are incredibly foolish, Elena!" he spat, blood slowly trickling from his bitten lip.
"Julian is operating on a dead-man's switch; if I don't give the authorized verbal command every five minutes, the tank automatically electrifies!"
I violently pulled the tactical blade out of his ruined foot and forcefully dragged him backward toward the hidden servant's corridors.
"Then you are going to walk us down to the catacombs and give that authorized command in person," I demanded, shoving the pistol harder against his jaw.
Vanessa covered our aggressive retreat, laying down incredibly precise, lethal suppressing fire against the heavily armed guards trying to breach the darkness.
We forced Alexander brutally down the ancient, damp stone staircase leading directly into the flooded Venetian catacombs beneath the palace.
The heavy smell of stagnant water and decaying brick filled the incredibly cold, oppressive air.
We finally reached a massive, vaulted underground chamber illuminated entirely by harsh industrial floodlights.

Julian was standing proudly in the center of the room, exactly as he appeared on the video screen, his cybernetic titanium arm gleaming dangerously in the light.
He looked at me with pure, unadulterated hatred, casually raising his heavy hand toward the deadly electrical switch.
