Chapter 6 - The Bloodbath

The deafening sound of an automatic rifle shattered the tense silence of the grand study.
I completely ignored my father's lethal command and instantly turned my silver gun toward his closest guard.
I pulled the trigger twice, dropping the massive man before he could even aim his weapon at my husband.
Lucian did not waste a single millisecond of the sudden, violent chaos.
He dove fiercely across the polished floor, grabbing a fallen assault rifle from the dead guard.
A massive, terrifying shootout erupted instantly inside the luxurious, confined space of the study.
Bullets shattered the antique windows and tore violently through the expensive mahogany furniture.
Lucian moved with absolute, lethal precision, violently neutralizing three of my father's men in a matter of seconds.
I crawled desperately across the floor completely under the heavy crossfire, determined to reach my son's crib.
Elena burst into the room from the hallway, providing heavy covering fire with her own stolen weapon.
I reached the lavish crib and scooped a screaming Nico securely against my chest.
"We need to get out of here right now!" Lucian roared over the deafening sound of continuous gunfire.
He grabbed my free hand, his strong grip feeling incredibly warm and protective despite the absolute madness.
We ran out into the grand hallway, fighting our way violently through a swarm of heavily armed syndicate soldiers.
Lucian took a grazing bullet to his left shoulder, but he did not even slow down his relentless, protective pace.
We finally reached the massive front doors, completely blowing the heavy locks apart with concentrated gunfire.
The morning sun hit my face as we sprinted desperately down the long, concrete driveway toward the front gates.
I looked over my shoulder, fully expecting to see my brave sister running right behind us.
The driveway was completely empty, and Elena was nowhere to be found.
I stopped abruptly, my heart plummeting as I frantically scanned the chaotic, bloody estate behind us.
"We have to go back for her, Lucian, I cannot leave my sister behind!" I screamed desperately.
Lucian pulled me forcefully behind a heavy stone pillar just as a barrage of bullets rained down upon our position.

"We cannot go back inside, Serena, because they are already bringing her out," Lucian pointed grimly.
Marco Vitale stepped out onto the front porch, pressing a loaded gun directly against Elena's temple.
