Chapter 14 - The Brother's Return

The deafening, explosive impact violently rattled the heavy concrete walls of the underground bunker, raining thick, gray dust directly onto the tactical command center.
The heavy steel blast doors groaned loudly under the immense, terrifying pressure of specialized breaching charges.
"Get Nico and hide completely inside the heavily reinforced panic room in the sub-basement," Lucian roared, instantly drawing two heavy tactical pistols from the armory rack.
I did not hesitate or argue for a single, fleeting second.
I sprinted desperately down the hallway, aggressively scooping a terrified, crying Nico securely into my trembling arms.
I rushed down the metal stairwell, locking myself entirely inside the massive, titanium-walled panic room hidden deep beneath the main bunker.
I watched the live, high-definition security feed on the small monitor inside the panic room, my heart hammering violently against my ribs.
The heavy steel blast doors of the main bunker were completely blown off their massive hinges with a final, deafening roar of explosive fire.
Thick, acrid smoke poured violently into the command center, completely obscuring the entrance.
A tall, broad-shouldered man dressed in sleek, black tactical gear stepped smoothly out of the burning smoke, completely unarmed.
Julian Moretti looked exactly like a slightly younger, significantly darker, and deeply twisted version of my husband.
He walked calmly into the center of the ruined room, entirely ignoring the two lethal weapons Lucian held perfectly aimed at his chest.
"You really should have completely upgraded the perimeter sensors, brother. I bypassed them in less than three minutes," Julian smiled, his voice a dark, mocking echo of Lucian’s.
Lucian did not lower his weapons, his dark eyes burning with absolute, unfiltered rage.
"You faked your own brutal death, abandoned the family, and now you have actively orchestrated my complete destruction," Lucian growled fiercely.
Julian chuckled darkly, casually brushing a speck of concrete dust off his expensive tactical vest.
"I did not abandon the family, Lucian. I simply realized that you were entirely too soft to rule the syndicate effectively," Julian replied smoothly.
"When you foolishly betrayed our father and destroyed the empire for a pathetic, weak woman, I decided it was completely time for a violent regime change."
Julian slowly reached into his tactical pocket and pulled out a small, metallic detonator switch equipped with a bright red LED light.
"I have strapped massive, highly concentrated thermal charges directly above the main structural supports of this bunker," Julian announced with terrifying, clinical calmness.
"If you shoot me, my thumb slips, and this entire mountain will violently collapse, permanently crushing you, your precious wife, and your little bastard son."
Lucian stared at the lethal detonator, completely realizing the sheer, terrifying magnitude of his brother’s ruthless leverage.
"What exactly do you want, Julian?" Lucian demanded coldly, refusing to lower his heavy weapons.

Julian smiled a deeply cold, victorious smile, completely confident in his absolute, unyielding power.
"I want you to formally sign over the hidden, multi-billion dollar offshore accounts you stole from the syndicate, and then I want you to put a bullet directly through your own brain," Julian commanded flawlessly.
