Chapter 8 - The Sacrifice

The silence in the ruined warehouse was heavier than the thick, gray smoke filling the air.
Vincent Moretti stood in the center of the room, looking like a wealthy grandfather rather than a ruthless killer.
He adjusted his expensive silk tie and waited patiently for Hannah’s final answer.
Dominic furiously tried to stand up, his injured leg bleeding profusely onto the dusty concrete.
He ordered Hannah not to listen to a single word the old monster was saying.
He swore he would kill every last one of them before he let them take her away.
Vincent simply laughed, a dry, humorless sound that echoed terrifyingly against the steel walls.
He gestured to the dozen heavy assault rifles pointed directly at the three terrified, silent toddlers.
He calmly stated that it would only take one second to end the Vale bloodline forever.
Hannah looked at Lily, Grace, and Emma, who were clinging to her with absolute, desperate trust.
These little girls shared her blood, her face, and her entire heart.
She knew she could not let them die just to save her own life.
Hannah slowly stood up from behind the steel pillar, intentionally leaving the small pistol on the floor.
Dominic screamed at her to stop, his voice cracking with a desperate, unfamiliar agony.
She looked down at him, her eyes completely filled with unshed tears.
She softly told him to be a good father and make sure the girls knew she loved them.
Hannah raised her hands in the air and walked slowly toward Vincent Moretti’s heavily armed guards.
The mercenaries roughly grabbed her arms, tightly securing thick zip-ties around her fragile wrists.
Vincent smiled warmly, praising her for making the intelligent, maternal choice.
He ordered his men to leave Dominic bleeding on the floor to suffer the total loss of his family.
They dragged Hannah out of the warehouse and threw her into the back of a heavily armored medical van.
Inside the van, a completely sterile surgical bed was already prepped with leather restraints.
A corrupt doctor in a bloody surgical mask immediately strapped her down to the cold metal table.
He prepped an IV line, calmly explaining that they would begin the painful bone marrow extraction as soon as they reached the compound.
As the heavy van sped away toward the Moretti stronghold, Hannah closed her eyes in absolute defeat.

But the doctor suddenly leaned in extremely close to her ear.
He whispered that her father’s cancer had not been natural, and the Morettis had intentionally poisoned him to force her into medical debt.
