Chapter 2 - The Stolen File

Hannah stared at her own signature on the medical document until the letters blurred together.
She shook her head violently, taking a step away from the glass coffee table.
She told Dominic that there had to be some kind of terrible mistake.
She explained that she had never donated her eggs to anyone in her entire life.
Dominic crossed his arms, his dark suit absorbing the dim light of the massive room.
He asked her if she was accusing a multimillion-dollar fertility clinic of forging legal documents.
Hannah shouted that she was accusing them of exactly that.
She desperately tried to remember anything from two years ago that could explain this nightmare.
Two years ago, her father had been completely consumed by the aggressive pancreatic cancer.
She had been working three jobs just to keep the electricity on in their tiny Queens apartment.
Dominic stepped closer, invading her personal space with a terrifying, quiet dominance.
He demanded to know if she had undergone any medical procedures during that specific time frame.
Hannah closed her eyes, a sudden, sickening memory rushing back into her mind.
She recalled a free community health screening that had found a supposedly dangerous ovarian cyst.
The doctors at that clinic had offered to remove it for free through a charity program.
She had been put under heavy anesthesia for what was supposed to be a simple thirty-minute surgery.
When she woke up, she had been in agonizing pain for weeks.
She opened her eyes and looked directly into Dominic’s cold, calculating stare.
She whispered that they had not removed a cyst at all.
They had stolen her eggs while she was completely unconscious.
Dominic’s expression darkened into a mask of pure, unadulterated fury.
He pulled out his phone and dialed a secure number.
He ordered his men to find every single doctor associated with the Westside Charity Clinic immediately.
Hannah looked over at the sofa, where Lily and Grace had now curled up next to a sleeping Emma.
She realized with absolute horror that these three beautiful, silent children were biologically hers.
The emotional weight of that revelation crushed the air right out of her lungs.
She fell to her knees on the expensive Persian rug, burying her face in her hands.
Dominic slowly knelt down beside her, his presence incredibly overwhelming in the quiet room.
He told her that they were going to find the people who did this and destroy them.
But before he could say another word, the heavy oak doors of the foyer burst open.
A bodyguard covered in blood stumbled into the room, clutching his chest.

He gasped that the perimeter had been completely breached by heavily armed men.
Suddenly, a massive explosion shattered the bulletproof windows of the grand living room.
