Chapter 29 - The Tower Siege

The sub-basement of the Sterling tower was a labyrinth of sterile white corridors and high-tech security checkpoints.

Hannah moved relentlessly forward, flanked closely by Silvio and the remaining loyal hitters.

The element of surprise had completely shattered the confidence of Eleanor’s remaining private security forces.

They breached the final reinforced door using a thermite charge, the blinding sparks illuminating the dark, cavernous interrogation room beyond.

Dominic was securely chained to a heavy steel chair in the center of the room, his face badly beaten and his shirt soaked in dark blood.

Eleanor Sterling stood several feet away, holding a silver revolver and completely trembling with absolute panic as the door fell inward.

Hannah rushed into the room, her gun aimed directly at the wealthy matriarch’s chest.

Dominic’s head snapped up, his bruised eyes widening in absolute shock and furious terror at the sight of Hannah in the crossfire.

He screamed at her to leave, desperately pulling against the thick steel chains binding his wrists.

Eleanor wildly pointed her revolver at Dominic's head, screaming that if Hannah took one more step, she would blow his brains out.

The elderly woman’s pristine facade was completely gone, replaced by the unhinged desperation of a cornered animal.

She ranted hysterically about bloodlines and legacy, claiming that Dominic had ruined her daughter's memory by replacing her with a waitress.

Hannah did not lower her weapon; instead, she took a deliberate, commanding step forward, completely unfazed by the threat.

She coldly informed Eleanor that she had already sent the encrypted files proving the rogue FBI operation directly to the actual federal authorities.

At that exact moment, the distant, unmistakable sound of dozens of police sirens began echoing from the city streets above.

Realizing her empire was completely crumbling, Eleanor hesitated, her finger trembling violently on the trigger of her silver revolver.

That split-second distraction was entirely enough for Dominic.

Using the sheer, adrenaline-fueled strength of a desperate man, he violently twisted his body, snapping the rusted bolt holding the chair to the floor.

He lunged upward, slamming his heavy shoulder directly into Eleanor’s legs and knocking the wealthy woman violently to the concrete floor.

The silver revolver skittered across the room, far entirely out of her reach.

Silvio immediately stepped forward, restraining the screaming, defeated matriarch with thick plastic zip-ties.

Hannah dropped her weapon and practically collapsed onto her knees beside Dominic, frantically checking his brutal wounds.

He wrapped his bloody, bruised arms around her waist, burying his face in her trench coat and breathing in the scent of her hair.

He whispered that she was the most terrifying, beautiful woman in the entire world, and he was completely in awe of her.
