Chapter 28 - The Counterstrike

The midnight rain slicked the dark streets of Manhattan as the heavy, armored medical van pulled up to the Sterling tower.

The massive underground parking garage was eerily silent, illuminated only by the harsh, flickering fluorescent lights overhead.

Hannah sat in the driver’s seat, her hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that her knuckles were entirely white.

Beside her, Silvio sat completely still in the passenger seat, wearing the stolen uniform of a private EMT paramedic.

In the back of the van, the triplets were completely safe, deeply asleep in the Bronx safe house under the protection of ten heavily armed guards.

Instead of the children, the rear cabin was packed entirely with high-grade breaching explosives and four of Dominic’s most ruthless hitters.

As the van idled near the designated drop zone, a heavily armored steel door rolled open at the far end of the garage.

Agent Vance stepped out, flanked by six mercenaries carrying laser-sighted submachine guns.

He aggressively motioned for Hannah to step out of the vehicle and open the rear doors for inspection.

Hannah took a deep breath, slipping her small pistol into the pocket of her dark trench coat before stepping out into the cold garage.

Vance walked toward her with a smug, victorious smile, mocking her for finally realizing she could never win against true power.

He demanded the keys to the back of the van, completely expecting to find three terrified toddlers waiting for him.

Hannah looked directly into his cold eyes and calmly stated that she had brought exactly what Eleanor deserved.

She pressed a small, hidden detonator switch completely concealed inside her coat pocket.

The heavy steel rear doors of the van instantly blew outward with a deafening, concussive roar.

The explosion shattered the concrete pillars and sent Vance’s mercenaries flying backward into the parked luxury cars.

Before the smoke could even begin to clear, Silvio and the hitters surged out of the back of the van, firing their suppressed weapons with lethal precision.

Vance stumbled backward, clutching a bleeding shrapnel wound on his shoulder and screaming wildly for backup.

Hannah did not hesitate for a single fraction of a second; she drew her pistol and fired two shots directly into Vance’s knee.

The corrupt agent collapsed onto the wet concrete, begging for mercy as the garage completely descended into chaotic violence.

Hannah walked right past him, stepping over the broken glass and blood without a single glance downward.

She pointed her weapon at the shattered security door leading into the sub-basement of the tower.

It was time to get Dominic back and finish Eleanor Sterling once and for all.
