Chapter 22 - The Custody War

The very next morning, the crushing weight of Eleanor Sterling’s immense wealth and political influence slammed into their lives.
A fleet of black SUVs arrived at the estate, carrying not armed thugs, but high-powered federal lawyers and child protection agents.
Dominic stood in the grand foyer, his jaw clenched so tightly that a muscle twitched furiously near his temple.
The lead attorney handed him a thick stack of court orders, signed by a federal judge who had been on the Sterling payroll for decades.
The documents formally challenged Hannah’s recent adoption of the triplets, citing Dominic’s extensive criminal history as an immediate danger.
Eleanor had manufactured a completely fabricated, yet incredibly detailed dossier portraying Hannah as an unfit, unstable biological surrogate.
Hannah read through the legal papers, her hands shaking violently as she saw the twisted lies printed in crisp black ink.
They were claiming she had manipulated Dominic into the adoption purely for financial gain.
Dominic reached for the heavy oak desk, his hand hovering dangerously close to the hidden drawer where he kept his weapon.
He quietly stated that lawyers and judges could bleed just like the street thugs he had eliminated in the past.
Hannah immediately grabbed his arm, her grip desperately tight, grounding him before he could make a fatal mistake.
She told him that if he killed a federal judge, Eleanor would win instantly, and they would lose the girls forever.
They had to fight this war in the light of day, entirely within the corrupt legal system that Eleanor manipulated.
For the next three weeks, the Hamptons estate felt less like a safe haven and more like a high-security prison.
Social workers conducted random, aggressive inspections of the house, interviewing the staff and scrutinizing every aspect of the girls' lives.
Hannah maintained her composure with absolute grace, smiling through the intrusive questions while her heart pounded with terror.
But the breaking point came during a mandated psychological evaluation at a sterile downtown clinic.
The court-appointed doctor, a smug man with cold eyes, began asking the triplets confusing, leading questions about Dominic’s temper.
Emma, usually the bravest of the three, began to cry hysterically, refusing to speak and clinging tightly to Hannah’s leg.
When Hannah tried to comfort her daughter, the doctor harshly ordered her to step away, accusing her of interfering with a legal evaluation.

Hannah did not step back; instead, she leaned down, picking Emma up and staring directly into the corrupt doctor's eyes.
She coldly informed him that the evaluation was over, and if he ever raised his voice at her children again, he would need more than a lawyer.
