Chapter 7 - The Blood Price

Hannah could not believe the absolute betrayal she was witnessing.

Peter, the man who had bought her coffee when she was broke, had sold her life for gambling money.

Dominic stepped entirely out of the shadows, aiming his gun directly at the center of Peter’s chest.

He coldly informed the traitor that he had exactly three seconds to explain how many men were waiting outside.

Peter was sweating profusely, his hands shaking so violently that he nearly dropped his suppressed weapon.

He stammered that the entire block was already surrounded by Vincent Moretti’s most elite hit squad.

Before Peter could finish his sentence, a high-caliber sniper bullet shattered the warehouse window.

The bullet struck Peter directly in the shoulder, spinning him around and dropping him to the concrete floor.

The Morettis were not leaving any witnesses alive, not even the informants they had directly paid off.

Dominic aggressively grabbed Hannah by the waist, dragging her and the children behind a solid steel pillar.

A barrage of heavy gunfire ripped through the corrugated metal walls of the old warehouse.

The noise was absolutely deafening, filling the dusty air with smoke, sparks, and the smell of gunpowder.

Dominic fired back methodically, taking down two heavily armed men who tried to breach the front loading door.

But there were simply too many attackers, and they were advancing with terrifying tactical precision.

A stray bullet ricocheted off a steel beam and tore completely through the side of Dominic’s leg.

He grunted in severe pain, collapsing onto one knee as dark blood quickly soaked through his tailored trousers.

Hannah screamed his name, terrified by the sight of the supposedly invincible man falling to the ground.

Dominic looked at her, his face extremely pale but his eyes burning with fierce determination.

He slid a secondary, smaller pistol across the floor until it stopped right at Hannah’s feet.

He told her that when they breached the final door, she had to shoot anyone who came through.

He promised to buy her enough time to escape through the old sewer drainage pipe in the back.

Hannah picked up the heavy weapon, her hands shaking so badly she could barely hold it steady.

She refused to leave him behind to die alone in the dirt.

Suddenly, the heavy front doors were violently blown entirely off their rusty metal hinges.

Vincent Moretti walked slowly into the warehouse, surrounded by a dozen heavily armed mercenaries.

He looked directly at Hannah and offered her a horrifying, impossible choice.

He promised to let Dominic and the triplets live, but only if Hannah surrendered herself immediately for the bone marrow harvest.
