Chapter 6 - The Hostage Protocol

I felt a sickening wave of absolute betrayal wash over me as I watched them celebrate our impending doom.
Sabrina had masterfully faked her own kidnapping to lure David into delivering the final piece of evidence.
Grant arrogantly held up the silver flash drive, proving he had never actually lost it in the first place.
He shouted into the darkness, mocking us for being so incredibly naive and ridiculously easy to trap.
David stepped out from behind a rusted metal pillar, aiming his weapon directly at Grant’s chest.
He calmly demanded that Grant drop the flash drive and kick it across the concrete floor immediately.
Grant merely laughed, pulling a sleek black remote detonator from his tailored suit pocket.
He proudly announced that the entire warehouse was heavily wired with industrial-grade construction explosives.
If David pulled the trigger, Grant's thumb would slip off the dead-man's switch and blow us all to absolute pieces.
Sabrina smiled wickedly and demanded that David slide the black binder across the floor.
I noticed that Grant’s hand was trembling slightly, a clear sign of extreme adrenaline and lingering cowardice.
I stepped completely out of the shadows, ignoring David’s fierce whisper telling me to stay hidden.
I looked Grant dead in the eye and coldly informed him that I had already emailed copies of the binder to the FBI.
Grant’s arrogant smile instantly vanished, replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated panic.
He aggressively grabbed Sabrina by the hair, violently pulling her in front of him as a human shield.
Sabrina screamed in pure terror, finally realizing that the man she loved viewed her entirely as a disposable asset.
Grant pointed a hidden pistol at my head, screaming that he was going to end this right now.
Suddenly, the massive bay doors of the warehouse violently exploded inward with a deafening crash.

Three heavily armored black vans sped into the building, heavily armed mercenaries pouring out of the back doors.
The Cayman Islands lenders had successfully tracked the encrypted signal from the silver flash drive, and they were not here to negotiate.
