Chapter 1 - The Ambush Reversed
The heavy silence in the living room felt like a physical weight pressing against the limestone walls.
Sabrina stared at her husband with wide, terrified eyes, completely forgetting the luxury curtains she had been planning to buy.
David did not shout or throw a violent tantrum.
He simply stood beside my dining table, radiating a cold and terrifying calm.
Grant stumbled backward, his confident posture entirely collapsing under David’s intense gaze.
David tapped the thick black binder with one steady finger.
He explained that the binder contained every single bank statement, hidden wire transfer, and fraudulent invoice Grant had generated over the past year.
Grant had aggressively embezzled three million dollars from David’s private investment firm to fund his lavish affair.
The twenty-eight-thousand-dollar diamond bracelet on Sabrina’s wrist had been paid for with her own husband’s stolen money.
Sabrina instinctively covered her wrist with her other hand, her face completely drained of color.
Grant desperately tried to regain his composure, puffing out his chest to look intimidating.
He pointed a shaking finger at David and demanded that he get out of the house immediately.
I stepped forward and calmly reminded Grant that he had absolutely no authority to evict anyone from my property.
Grant suddenly lunged toward me, his face twisting into an ugly mask of pure rage.
Before he could reach me, David swiftly intercepted him and shoved him hard against the floating oak staircase.
The sudden sound of loud, aggressive banging echoed from the heavy mahogany front door.
Red and blue emergency lights flashed brightly through the two-story glass windows facing the dark lake.
Grant smiled a wicked, bloody smile and straightened his expensive cashmere coat.

He told us that he had called the police ten minutes before arriving, falsely reporting that I was armed and violently suicidal.
He planned to have me forcefully committed to a psychiatric ward tonight so he could easily seize control of everything.
