Chapter 17 - The Royal Trap

The bright silver vapor instantly exploded outward, completely filling the immediate space between me and the terrified billionaire.

Omar shrieked in absolute, unfiltered horror, violently stumbling backward and covering his face desperately with his expensive suit jacket.

He knew entirely well that inhaling even a single microscopic drop of the highly concentrated neurotoxin meant an agonizing, instant death.

Julian grabbed my waist aggressively and violently tackled me entirely backward, hauling us completely behind the heavy marble reception desk.

We crouched low to the ground, holding our breath desperately as the silver cloud aggressively dissipated into the massive, high ceilings of the lobby.

"Are you completely insane?!" Julian hissed furiously, his dark eyes wide with pure, unadulterated shock.

"You just vaporized the only leverage we had, and you almost killed us all in the process!"

I leaned against the cold marble, completely unfazed by his intense, entirely justified anger.

I took a slow, deep breath of the surrounding air, proving absolutely that the environment was entirely safe.

"I did not smash Project Genesis, Julian. I smashed a highly pressurized vial of sterile, silver surgical dye I grabbed from the storage closet on our way up," I explained coldly.

Julian stared at me in absolute, profound disbelief, completely realizing the sheer, terrifying brilliance of my ruthless bluff.

I had safely transferred the true, highly lethal vial into the heavy, reinforced steel lockbox strapped securely to Jax’s tactical vest before we ever left the sub-basement.

Omar had completely panicked, entirely abandoning his calm, arrogant facade and fleeing blindly toward the shattered glass doors.

"He is running for his extraction chopper!" Jax yelled, pointing toward the dark courtyard where Omar’s black helicopter was already spooling its heavy rotors.

"We absolutely cannot let him leave this city alive," Julian snarled, rapidly checking the magazines of his suppressed pistols.

We vaulted aggressively over the marble desk and sprinted heavily out into the freezing, chaotic night air of the hospital courtyard.

Omar was frantically climbing into the back of the heavily armored helicopter, his face completely pale and his hands trembling violently.

"Take off right now! Leave them to burn!" Omar screamed hysterically at his heavily armed pilot.

The massive helicopter aggressively lifted off the wet concrete, the heavy downwash violently whipping our hair and clothes as we sprinted toward the pad.

Julian did not hesitate or slow down for a single, fleeting second.

He sprinted aggressively up a parked, overturned ambulance, using the ruined hood as a massive, improvised ramp.

He launched his entire body violently into the air, miraculously grabbing the heavy steel landing skid of the rising helicopter.

The chopper pitched wildly into the dark sky, aggressively carrying the ruthless assassin completely out over the glittering, massive skyline of Chicago.

I stood on the freezing concrete with Jax, completely watching the dark helicopter disappear entirely into the heavy, storm-filled clouds.

Julian was officially trapped thousands of feet in the air, completely unarmed against a heavily guarded billionaire and a tactical pilot.

I pulled my encrypted phone from my pocket and immediately dialed the direct, unlisted number of the Federal Aviation Administration’s emergency override command.

I was absolutely not going to let Omar escape into international airspace, and I was going to use my vast corporate power to pull him violently out of the sky.
