Chapter 7 - The Final Trap

We hiked for three hours until we reached a cheap motel on the outskirts of the city.

We paid for the room with the last few dollar bills hidden in my pocket.

Michael paced the stained carpet and formulated a desperate plan to crash the shareholder meeting.

I told him we needed serious help because David would have the entire building surrounded by armed guards.

I used the motel telephone to call an old college friend who now worked as a senior agent for the federal bureau of investigation.

Agent Miller answered the call and listened carefully to my entire frantic story.

He promised to meet us in the alley behind the Bennett Tower with a team of undercover agents.

The next morning, we arrived at the towering glass skyscraper with our hearts pounding heavily.

Agent Miller was waiting for us by the service elevator wearing a dark suit.

He handed us secure access badges and told us to follow him directly to the executive boardroom.

We rode the elevator to the top floor, feeling a surge of confidence and hope.

The elevator doors chimed and slid open to reveal the luxurious corporate reception area.

Agent Miller suddenly turned around and pulled his service weapon from his shoulder holster.

He aimed the gun directly at Michael's chest and demanded the envelope of documents.

Agent Miller smiled coldly and revealed that David paid far better than the federal government.
