Chapter 2 - The Hospital Ambush
The police arrived swiftly and dragged Diane out of the building in heavy iron handcuffs.
Michael held Lily tightly in his arms the entire ride to the local hospital.
We needed the doctors to examine our daughter and ensure she was completely unharmed from the terrifying fall.
I sat in the sterile waiting room and explained everything to my husband.
I told him about the mysterious safety deposit box key that arrived in our mail two weeks ago.
An anonymous source had sent it to me with a note warning that Lily was in grave danger.
The documents inside that box exposed Diane and the fifty million dollars she had stolen.
Michael stared at the financial records with a look of pure confusion.
The documents stated that the massive trust fund could only be unlocked by a biological heir of the original Bennett bloodline.
If Michael was not a biological Bennett, then Diane could never access the money through him.
That was when the horrifying realization hit both of us at the exact same time.
The only way Diane could access the funds was if Lily possessed the correct genetic marker.
Before we could connect the final pieces of the puzzle, the heavy wooden door of the examination room swung open.
A tall nurse in blue scrubs walked in with a syringe filled with a cloudy liquid.
