Chapter 6 - The Race to the Tarmac

"You are not going to get away with this, Kenneth," I snarled into the phone.

"I already have, sweetheart," he replied in a condescending tone.

"The board just voted unanimously to oust your family based on Marcus's recommendation."

"And the police are currently issuing a statewide warrant for your arrest."

Kenneth ended the call, leaving me staring at the dead screen in absolute fury.

Justin slammed his fist against the dashboard, shattering the plastic vent.

"Where does his private jet fly out of?" Justin demanded, his eyes fixed on the road.

"Centennial Airport," I replied instantly, remembering the invoices I had seen in his briefcase.

"It is a smaller private airfield just south of the city limits."

"Hold on tightly," Justin warned me, shifting the car into a higher gear.

We merged onto the highway, dodging the early morning commuter traffic with reckless precision.

I opened my laptop again and began writing a mass email to every single shareholder and board member.

I attached the scanned documents proving Marcus and Kenneth's massive embezzlement scheme.

I also attached the medical records proving Kenneth's horrific personal betrayal, showing exactly what kind of monster they were trusting.

I hit send just as we took the exit toward the private aviation terminal.

We tore through the chain-link security gate, completely ignoring the screaming security guard.

Justin drove the car directly onto the active tarmac, searching frantically for Kenneth's jet.

I spotted the sleek, white Gulfstream aircraft taxiing slowly toward the main runway.

The engines were already whining loudly, preparing for an immediate takeoff.

"Block the plane!" I yelled, pointing toward the moving aircraft.

Justin swerved the car violently, skidding across the wet pavement to block the jet's path.

The pilot slammed on the brakes, bringing the massive plane to a sudden, jerking halt just feet away from our bumper.

I threw the car door open and stepped out onto the tarmac.

The cabin door of the jet hissed open, and the boarding stairs slowly descended.

Kenneth stepped out onto the stairs, wearing an expensive tailored suit and holding a leather briefcase.

He looked down at me with a mixture of annoyance and pure hatred.

"You really don't know when to quit, do you, Sabrina?" Kenneth yelled over the sound of the engines.

"I sent the evidence to every single member of the board, Kenneth," I shouted back.

"The money is going to be frozen before you even cross the state line."

Kenneth's arrogant smile vanished instantly, replaced by a look of wild, cornered panic.

He reached into his tailored jacket and pulled out a silver handgun, pointing it directly at my chest.

"Then I guess I have absolutely nothing left to lose," he said coldly.

Before he could pull the trigger, a second figure emerged from the cabin behind him.

It was Maya, and she was holding a heavy fire extinguisher high above her head.
