Chapter 6 - The Ultimatum

Marcus spoke with a smooth and incredibly arrogant tone.
He praised Sarah for being so creatively careless for the past year.
He admitted that her erratic behavior had made her incredibly hard to track.
However, he proudly noted that every mother eventually makes a fatal mistake.
He demanded the ledger containing his offshore bank accounts.
Sarah stood her ground with her gun firmly raised.
She told him the ledger was secured safely in a downtown deposit box.
She promised to give him the key if he let Leo walk away.
Marcus shook his head in dramatic disappointment.
He said he did not make deals with lying traitors.
He pressed a button on the detonator and a loud electronic beep echoed through the room.
He announced that they had exactly sixty seconds before the entire building collapsed.
David realized there was no reasoning with a complete madman.
He tightened his grip on the heavy iron pipe.
He made eye contact with Sarah and gave her a subtle, desperate nod.
Sarah suddenly fired a warning shot right past Marcus's right ear.
Marcus flinched and dropped his guard for a fraction of a second.
David lunged forward and swung the iron pipe hard at the man's wrist.
The pipe struck true and the detonator flew out of Marcus's hand.
David grabbed Leo and pulled him violently away from the chair.
Marcus recovered quickly and drew a silver combat knife from his suit coat.

He lunged violently at David's exposed throat.
David felt a sharp, burning pain slice aggressively across his shoulder.
