Chapter 4 - The Betrayal

Sarah raised her weapon and aimed it directly at David's chest.
Her eyes were filled with absolute betrayal and fury.
David frantically raised his hands in surrender.
He swore he had no idea his supervisor was working for Marcus.
He pleaded with her to believe that he was just a pawn in this twisted game.
Leo stepped between them and gently pushed his mother's gun down.
The boy quietly said that David was telling the truth.
Sarah hesitated for a long moment before lowering the weapon.
She grabbed David's wrist and forcefully unbuckled his smartwatch.
She threw the glowing device deep into the muddy water of the drainage tunnel.
They needed to get back to the city before nightfall.
They walked for two miserable hours through the damp woods.
Eventually, they reached the edge of a deserted industrial park.
The sun began to set, casting long and eerie shadows across the abandoned warehouses.
Sarah said they could find a working landline inside the old shipping office.
They carefully entered a massive warehouse filled with dusty wooden crates.
The air was thick and smelled heavily of motor oil.
David found an old rotary phone on a dusty metal desk.
He picked up the receiver and heard a faint dial tone.
He started to dial the federal authorities.
Sarah suddenly screamed David's name from across the dark room.
David turned around and dropped the phone in absolute horror.
