Chapter 4 - The Cruel Act
Two massive guards dragged Mrs. Rose into the lavish living room and threw her onto the marble floor.
Vanessa looked down at her with absolute disgust.
"You are just as pathetic as your son," Vanessa mocked, swirling a glass of expensive wine.
Suddenly, the front door opened and Leo walked into the room.
He froze when he saw his mother bleeding on the floor.
"Leo, your mother was spying on me," Vanessa said with a wicked smile.
Leo understood instantly that his mother’s life was in extreme danger.
He knew he had to put on a show to convince Vanessa he did not care about her.
"Why are you here, you crazy old beggar?" Leo screamed, his voice echoing in the large room.
He grabbed his mother by the arm and roughly pulled her to her feet.
"I told you to take the rice and never come back!" Leo yelled, dragging her toward the door.
Tears streamed down Mrs. Rose's face as her son shoved her out onto the hard driveway.
But right before he slammed the heavy wooden door in her face, his hand slipped into her coat pocket.

He quickly dropped a small, cold metal key inside.
When Mrs. Rose reached into her pocket, she pulled out a key belonging to a private storage locker.
