Chapter 3 - The Dangerous Mansion
The next morning, Mrs. Rose took three different buses to reach the wealthy side of the city.
She walked up the steep hill toward Vanessa's massive gated estate.
The security gate was broken, allowing her to slip quietly onto the pristine landscaping.
She crept toward the large glass windows of the patio, staying hidden behind a row of tall hedges.
Inside the luxurious room, Vanessa was pacing back and forth with a phone pressed to her ear.
"I do not care what the accountants say, Leo is going to take the fall for the missing millions," Vanessa snarled.
Mrs. Rose gasped silently, realizing Vanessa was framing her son for massive corporate fraud.
"Once the FBI arrests him tomorrow, I will take the rest of the offshore money and leave the country," Vanessa laughed.
Mrs. Rose knew she had to warn Leo immediately.
She took a step backward, intending to run back to the bus stop.
Her foot snapped a dry branch on the ground with a loud, sharp crack.
Vanessa stopped pacing and snapped her head toward the window.

"Bring the old woman inside," Vanessa ordered the security guards standing on the terrace.
