Chapter 8 - The Escape

Nathan aimed the shotgun perfectly at Dr. Evans as the bright fire spread quickly.
The enclosed shipping container was rapidly filling with thick, toxic black smoke.
Nathan ordered the treacherous doctor to get on his knees and put his hands on his head.
Dr. Evans complied, coughing violently as the orange flames grew higher.
I scooped Sophia into my arms and ran out into the cool, fresh evening air.
Nathan slowly backed out of the container, keeping his weapon fixed on the doctor.
Suddenly, the massive barrel of industrial solvent exploded a second time.
The violent shockwave threw Nathan backward onto the hard concrete of the docks.
He dropped the shotgun, and it skidded completely out of his reach.
Dr. Evans took advantage of the chaotic smoke and charged out of the burning container.
He ignored Nathan entirely and ran directly toward me and Sophia.
He pulled a sharp, gleaming surgical scalpel from his dark jacket pocket.
I screamed and ran toward the edge of the docks, but there was nowhere left to hide.
The dark, freezing ocean water crashed violently against the concrete pillars far below.
Dr. Evans cornered us against the rusted metal safety railing.
He raised the scalpel high, his face twisted in pure, desperate rage.
I shielded Sophia entirely with my body, preparing for the fatal strike.
A heavy metal pipe suddenly swung through the air and struck the doctor hard in the ribs.
Dr. Evans collapsed in agony, dropping the sharp medical blade.
I looked up to see Marcus standing there, panting heavily.
He had secretly followed us from the mansion to ensure we were truly safe.
Marcus kicked the scalpel into the ocean and pinned the struggling doctor to the ground.
Nathan ran over and hugged his brother, forgiving him for his earlier mistakes.
We heard the loud, comforting wail of police sirens approaching the shipping yard.
The nightmare was truly ending at last.
I looked down at Sophia, tears of overwhelming joy streaming down my face.
May you like
Sophia pointed her little finger out toward the dark water.
A black speedboat was silently cutting through the waves, heading directly toward us.
