Chapter 5 - The Wedding Day

The morning of the wedding was chaotic and filled with expensive preparations.

Florists carried hundreds of white roses into the grand ballroom.

I walked through the busy halls like an invisible ghost in my maid uniform.

My heart was completely shattered, but I had to play my part.

Nathan looked incredibly handsome but terribly tense in his custom tuxedo.

He pulled me aside into a quiet hallway before the ceremony began.

He whispered that he had a secret plan to expose Vanessa at the altar.

He had hired undercover federal agents to pose as the catering staff.

They were going to arrest her the moment she signed the legal marriage license.

I panicked because I knew exactly what would happen to Sophia if Vanessa was arrested.

I grabbed Nathan's arm and begged him to cancel the sting operation.

He looked at me in total, absolute confusion.

I broke down crying and confessed everything that happened at the cabin.

I told him Marcus had Sophia and would kill her if the wedding was interrupted.

Nathan's face turned completely white with pure, blinding rage.

He realized his own brother was holding an innocent child hostage.

Nathan pulled out his phone and immediately called the lead federal agent.

He ordered them to stand down and let the ceremony proceed.

Nathan said we had to go through with the wedding to save Sophia's life.

I thanked him profusely, feeling a tiny, fragile sliver of hope.

The traditional wedding march began to play in the grand ballroom.

Vanessa walked down the aisle in a stunning, diamond-encrusted designer gown.

She looked exactly like an angel, but we both knew she was the devil.

Nathan took her hand at the beautiful floral altar.

The priest cleared his throat and began reading the solemn vows.

Suddenly, the heavy wooden doors of the ballroom burst open with a loud crash.

Marcus walked in alone, covered in blood and breathing heavily.
