Chapter 1 - The Burning Iron
Sarah heard the piercing scream echo through the massive, empty hallways of the estate.
She dropped the heavy laundry basket she was carrying and sprinted up the grand staircase.
Her heart pounded violently against her ribs as she raced toward the nursery.
The heavy oak door was slightly ajar, casting a long shadow across the expensive carpet.
She pushed it open and her breath completely left her lungs.
Victoria was standing directly over baby Leo's wooden crib with a manic look in her eyes.
The wealthy socialite held a steaming, incredibly hot clothing iron just inches away from the crying infant's fragile skin.
Sarah did not think about the severe consequences of attacking her billionaire employer.
She lunged forward like a wild animal and tackled Victoria completely away from the crib.
The heavy iron crashed onto the hardwood floor, instantly scorching the expensive Persian rug.
Sarah scooped up the weeping baby and pressed him tightly and protectively against her chest.
Victoria scrambled to her feet with a look of pure, unhinged fury burning in her eyes.
She raised her hand to strike the maid across the face.
But before Victoria could even speak a single word, the bedroom door swung wide open.
Ethan stood in the doorway holding his briefcase, with a look of absolute horror painted on his face.
Victoria immediately began to sob fake tears and pointed a trembling, manicured finger at Sarah.
"She tried to burn him, Ethan!" Victoria screamed with flawless acting.
"I walked in and caught this crazy maid trying to burn our precious baby!" Victoria lied perfectly.
Ethan looked at his terrified son trembling in Sarah's protective arms.
Then he looked up at the security camera mounted high in the corner of the ceiling.

She was incredibly confident because she knew the camera was just a fake dummy model installed to scare the staff.
