Chapter 8 - The Brother's Return
Alexander froze completely, staring at the scarred man in shock.
He looked down at his daughter, who was trying to run forward.
Elena grabbed Lily by the waist and pulled her back desperately.
"Do not go near him, Lily," Elena ordered with absolute panic.
Kael smiled coldly and wiped a drop of blood from his combat glove.
"Is that any way to greet your own brother, Elena?" Kael asked smoothly.
Alexander tightened his grip on the combat knife he had stolen.
"You are the leader of the Blackwood Syndicate," Alexander realized aloud.
Kael nodded slightly in acknowledgment of his notorious reputation.
"And you are the billionaire playing house with my best assassin," Kael mocked.
He gestured toward Elena with a look of deep disappointment.
"She was our deadliest weapon until she ran away to play mommy," Kael explained.
Elena stepped in front of her husband, her eyes filled with furious tears.
"I left that life behind to give Lily a real future," she shouted.
"I am never going back to your bloody wars, Kael," she declared firmly.
Kael sighed and pulled a heavy silver pistol from his tactical holster.
"You swore a blood oath to the Syndicate, sister," Kael reminded her.
"The only way to leave our family is in a body bag," he said flatly.
He pointed the gun directly at Alexander's chest.
"I am going to kill your fake husband, and you are coming home," Kael stated.
Alexander stepped around Elena, shielding her from the weapon once again.
"If you want to touch my family, you have to go through me," Alexander promised.
Kael chuckled darkly and cocked the hammer of his gun.
"That can be easily arranged, rich boy," Kael sneered.
Before Kael could pull the trigger, the tent canvas ripped open behind him.
A massive explosion rocked the catering area, throwing everyone to the floor.
Alexander's backup security forces had finally arrived with heavy artillery.
The tent began to collapse in flames around them.
Kael disappeared into the thick black smoke like a ghost.
But as the smoke cleared, Alexander noticed something horrifying on the ground.

"Where is my daughter?" Elena screamed in pure agony.
