Chapter 2 - The Locked Gates

Alexander tightened his jaw as he looked at Elena.

His heart broke seeing Lily crying into her mother's wet shoulder.

He took off his custom tuxedo jacket and wrapped it around them.

"I am so sorry I was late," Alexander whispered softly to his family.

Elena leaned into his warmth and shook her head.

The groom swallowed hard and tried to puff out his chest.

"Listen here, you cannot just lock us inside," the groom stammered.

"My father is the CEO of Vanguard Industries," he threatened foolishly.

Alexander slowly turned his icy gaze toward the sweating groom.

"Vanguard Industries is a minor logistics firm," Alexander stated flatly.

He pulled a sleek black phone from his pocket.

He dialed a single number and pressed the speaker button.

The wedding guests held their breath in deadly silence.

"Liquidate Vanguard Industries immediately," Alexander ordered the person on the line.

"Hostile takeover, leave them with nothing," he added without mercy.

The groom laughed nervously, thinking it was a pathetic bluff.

Less than ten seconds later, the groom's cell phone began ringing frantically.

He answered it with trembling fingers.

The loud, panicked screams of his father echoed through the silent garden.

"We are ruined, they took everything!" his father sobbed on the phone.

The groom dropped his phone onto the grass in pure shock.

The bride let out a pathetic whimper of fear.

"You destroyed my fiance's family!" she screamed at Alexander.

"That is just the beginning," Alexander replied coldly.

He snapped his fingers at his lead bodyguard.

"Bring me the security footage of the fountain," Alexander commanded.

The bride's father suddenly reached into his expensive suit coat.

He pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it directly at Alexander's chest.

"Call off your men right now!" the desperate father roared.
