Chapter 6 - The Dragon's Mark
Elena quickly pulled her wet sleeve down to cover the dark tattoo.
She shoved the frantic bride away with surprising physical strength.
Chloe collapsed into the muddy grass, weeping uncontrollably in her ruined dress.
Alexander grabbed his wife's arm gently but firmly.
"Elena, look at me right now," Alexander commanded in a low voice.
"That is the crest of the Blackwood Syndicate," he said nervously.
Elena refused to meet his intense gaze.
"It is just a mistake from my past," she whispered defensively.
Alexander knew the Blackwood Syndicate was the deadliest mercenary group in Europe.
They did not give out tattoos, they branded their elite assassins.
He realized the woman he married was hiding a terrifying secret life.
But right now, his priority was keeping his daughter safe.
He turned back to the trembling Chief of Police.
"Arrest this entire family for attempted assault and corporate espionage," Alexander ordered.
The officers quickly dragged the screaming bride and her father away in handcuffs.
The remaining wedding guests were ordered to leave the premises immediately.
Luxury cars sped out of the estate gates as fast as possible.
The beautiful garden was left completely empty and destroyed.
Alexander wrapped his arm around Elena and carried Lily toward their armored car.
"We are going to have a very long talk at home," Alexander told her.
He opened the heavy bulletproof door of the vehicle.
Suddenly, the head of his security detail sprinted across the lawn.
The massive bodyguard looked genuinely terrified for the first time.
"Sir, do not get inside that vehicle!" the guard yelled desperately.
Alexander stopped and pulled Elena back from the car door.
"What is the problem?" Alexander demanded sharply.
"I just checked the undercarriage," the guard panted heavily.
"Someone cut the brake lines on all three of our convoy vehicles," he reported.
Alexander looked around the empty estate with a sudden sense of dread.

A distinct red laser dot suddenly appeared on the center of Alexander's chest.
