Chapter 5 - The Digital Inferno
The red skull icon aggressively multiplied across Chloe's phone screen.
"You did not steal a patent," Alexander explained with a cruel smile.
"You stole a military-grade security decoy from my private servers," he added.
Chloe frantically tried to pull the flash drive out of her device.
It was completely jammed inside the charging port.
"The moment you connected it, a virus infiltrated your entire network," Alexander stated.
Chloe's father screamed from the grass as his smart watch began beeping loudly.
"My offshore accounts!" the father wailed in pure agony.
"The balances are all dropping to zero!" he sobbed uncontrollably.
Every bank account linked to their family name was being drained in real time.
The stolen virus was systematically erasing their entire corporate empire.
The wealthy guests backed away from the family like they had a disease.
The groom stood up and ripped the boutonniere from his tuxedo lapel.
"The wedding is off," the groom declared loudly to the crowd.
"I am not tying my family to a group of bankrupt criminals," he spat.
He turned his back on Chloe and walked toward the exit.
Chloe stared at her empty hands as her entire life shattered.
She had lost her husband, her wealth, and her reputation in ten minutes.
A sudden, animalistic scream ripped from Chloe's throat.
She grabbed a shattered champagne flute from a nearby table.
The jagged glass glinted dangerously under the garden lights.
She lunged directly at little Lily with murderous intent.
"If my life is over, yours is too!" Chloe shrieked like a demon.
Alexander moved to intercept her, but someone was faster.
Elena stepped gracefully in front of her frightened daughter.
With a fluid motion, Elena caught Chloe's wrist in mid-air.
She twisted the bride's arm until the glass dropped to the floor.
Elena pulled back the sleeve of her wet dress during the struggle.
A black dragon tattoo was suddenly visible on her inner forearm.
Alexander stared at his wife's arm in absolute shock.
