Chapter 10 - The Vow of Blood

Alexander saw the red dot and instantly threw his body over his wife.

The laser danced across his broad back as he braced for the fatal shot.

But the gunshot never came.

A loud splash echoed from the river below as a hidden sniper fell into the water.

Alexander's backup team had successfully neutralized the final remaining threat.

The red laser vanished into the darkness forever.

Alexander breathed a heavy sigh of relief and kissed the top of Elena's head.

"It is over, my love," he whispered against her damp hair.

"You are finally safe," he promised as Lily clung to his neck.

Elena looked up at her husband, tears of profound gratitude in her eyes.

She knew Kael was gone for good, driven away by Alexander's absolute resolve.

The police and paramedics quickly swarmed the woods to escort them to safety.

They were wrapped in warm foil blankets and seated in the back of an ambulance.

Alexander held Elena's hand, promising to protect her for the rest of his life.

The nightmare of the garden wedding was truly and finally behind them.

They watched the sun slowly rise over the hills, painting the sky in beautiful gold.

They were a happy, wealthy, and fiercely loyal family ready for a peaceful future.

Later that evening, they arrived back at their secure penthouse in the city.

Elena gently carried a sleeping Lily into her pink bedroom.

She took off the child's ruined coat to prepare her for a warm bath.

As she folded the small coat, a heavy black envelope fell from the pocket.

Elena frowned and opened the mysterious wax seal with trembling fingers.

Inside was a faded photograph of Alexander from exactly ten years ago.

He was standing over a body, his hands completely covered in fresh blood.

Written across the back in dark red ink was a single, terrifying sentence.

"He killed your first husband."

Elena's breath hitched as she stared at the man sleeping peacefully down the hall.
