Chapter 9 - The Reversal

Victoria frowned, confused by Elena's sudden calm demeanor.
"What are you talking about?" Victoria snapped.
Elena pointed to the digital tablet on the table.
"You really should have read the background code before demanding my thumbprint."
The tablet screen suddenly turned bright red.
A loud siren began to wail across the yacht's internal speaker system.
"What did you do?" Victoria screamed.
"That was not a transfer authorization," Elena explained calmly.
"That was a global lockdown protocol."
"You just triggered an automatic audit by the federal financial crimes division."
Victoria's phone began to ring endlessly.
The guards looked at each other in total confusion.
"Turn it off!" Victoria demanded, pulling her own gun from her purse.
"I cannot," Elena replied.
"Every illegal transaction, every bribe, and every stolen design is currently downloading to the FBI servers."
The sound of heavy rotors echoed through the night sky.
Three heavily armed Coast Guard helicopters surrounded the yacht.
Bright searchlights illuminated the entire deck.
"Drop your weapons and surrender the vessel!" a voice commanded from the sky.
Victoria's mercenaries immediately threw their guns into the ocean and raised their hands.
They were not willing to fight the federal government.
Victoria looked around wildly, realizing she was completely trapped.
She grabbed the digital tablet and smashed it onto the deck.
She ran toward the rear of the yacht, desperate to escape.
She grabbed a life jacket and prepared to jump into the water.
But Elena was already standing there, blocking the railing.
"It is over, Victoria," Elena said firmly.

Victoria glared at her with pure, unadulterated hatred.
Suddenly, the yacht's engine exploded, violently throwing them both to the deck.
