Chapter 3 - The Hostage

Elena felt her blood turn to ice.

The man in the pilot seat locked the cabin doors with a sharp electronic click.

"Did you really think Victoria would leave her airspace unprotected?" the pilot mocked.

He pitched the helicopter into a steep, terrifying dive.

Leo screamed and buried his face in his mother's chest.

Elena grabbed the edge of the seat to steady herself.

She looked at the two tactical guards in the back of the cabin.

They were completely unresponsive, slumped over in their harnesses.

The pilot had drugged them before picking her up.

"Where are you taking us?" Elena demanded.

"To a very private location," the pilot replied smoothly.

"Victoria wants you to sign the ultimate transfer deeds in person."

Elena quickly scanned the cabin for anything she could use as a weapon.

She spotted a heavy red fire extinguisher strapped to the wall.

She unbuckled her seatbelt as quietly as possible.

The helicopter leveled out as they flew over a dark, abandoned industrial zone.

Elena grabbed the extinguisher and swung it with all her strength.

She smashed the heavy metal cylinder directly into the pilot's control stick.

The navigation panel sparked and shattered.

The helicopter violently jerked to the right.

The pilot cursed and fought to regain control of the spinning aircraft.

They plummeted toward an empty warehouse roof.

With a bone-shattering crash, the helicopter slammed into the concrete.

The metal frame groaned, but the cabin remained intact.

Elena kicked the shattered side door open and dragged Leo out onto the roof.

They scrambled away just as the engine caught fire.

Elena pulled her phone out to call the police.

Instead, a video message popped up on her screen.

It showed her elderly father tied to a chair with a bomb strapped to his chest.
