Chapter 6 - The Stolen Cure

The freezing wind howled loudly from the open maintenance hatch in the galley floor.
Evelyn did not hesitate for even a single second.
She grabbed a heavy-duty flashlight from the emergency supply kit on the wall.
She threw a swift, precise punch that knocked the laughing flight attendant completely unconscious.
Evelyn lowered herself into the narrow, freezing shaft that connected the main cabin to the lower cargo hold.
The temperature plummeted instantly, chilling her to the bone as she dropped onto a pile of hard suitcases.
The cargo hold was entirely dark, save for the weak, flickering beam of her flashlight.
Frost was already forming on the metal walls, and her breath appeared as thick clouds of white vapor.
She knew she had less than five minutes before hypothermia would permanently shut down her organs.
Evelyn scrambled over the mountain of luggage, frantically searching the floor for the small glass vial.
The airplane hit severe turbulence, tossing her brutally against a steel reinforcement beam.
She ignored the searing pain in her ribs and continued crawling through the dark, icy labyrinth.
Her flashlight beam finally caught a faint, green reflection near the rear pressure bulkhead.
The vial was completely intact, wedged safely between two heavy wooden shipping crates.
She reached out with numb, trembling fingers and secured the medicine safely inside her insulated coat pocket.
A massive wave of relief washed over her, knowing her son finally had a chance to live.
But the moment of triumph was immediately shattered by the sound of a heavy weapon chambering a round.
Evelyn froze, slowly turning her flashlight toward the darkest corner of the cargo hold.
A massive, heavily muscled man wearing a tactical winter suit stepped out from behind a large cargo container.
He was another sleeper agent, hidden away in the luggage compartment before the flight even boarded.
The giant operative was holding a heavy assault rifle, but he was not aiming it at Evelyn.
May you like
He stepped aside, revealing little Leo shivering in the freezing cold, a massive knife pressed against the boy's throat.
The giant smiled cruelly and demanded that Evelyn slide the medicine across the floor.
