Chapter 5 - The Cabin Pressure

Leo's eyes rolled back as the lack of oxygen rapidly shut down his small body.

Evelyn felt a surge of desperate adrenaline course through her veins.

She remembered the corrupt Air Marshal she had incapacitated earlier in the aisle.

Federal agents were always required to carry portable, pressurized oxygen cylinders for high-altitude emergencies.

She crawled over the screaming passengers, fighting the heavy pressure in her chest as her own vision began to blur.

She reached the unconscious Marshal and violently ripped the tactical vest from his chest.

Hidden in the inner pocket was a small, silver canister of pure medical-grade oxygen.

She scrambled back to Leo, cracked the valve open, and pressed the mask tightly against his pale face.

Within seconds, the boy took a deep, shuddering breath, and the color slowly returned to his cheeks.

Evelyn took a quick hit of the oxygen herself, clearing the dark spots from her fading vision.

She secured the canister to Leo's chest and instructed a nearby passenger to watch over him.

With her breathing stabilized, Evelyn turned her attention back to the forward galley.

The heavy door was swinging open, revealing the flight attendant recovering from the plane's violent dive.

Evelyn charged into the galley, tackling the operative hard against the stainless steel countertops.

The attendant fought back fiercely, driving her knee into Evelyn's stomach and reaching for the fire axe.

Evelyn blocked the strike, twisting the woman's arm and slamming her elbow onto the metal counter.

The two highly trained women engaged in a brutal, close-quarters brawl inside the cramped kitchen.

During the struggle, the attendant kicked a service cart, sending it crashing into the wall.

The impact jarred the stolen medicine vial loose from the padded mat where it had fallen.

Evelyn watched in absolute horror as the glass vial rolled rapidly across the slick metal floor.

The plane banked sharply to the left, altering the trajectory of the rolling cure.

The vial slipped perfectly through the open grate of an emergency maintenance hatch that led beneath the floorboards.

It disappeared into the freezing, pitch-black abyss of the airplane's massive cargo hold.

May you like

The flight attendant laughed hysterically, bleeding from her mouth as she looked at Evelyn.

She promised Evelyn that the cargo hold was completely unpressurized, meaning whoever went down there would freeze to death in minutes.
