Chapter 2 - The Hijacked Flight

The cold barrel of the ceramic pistol pointed directly at Evelyn's heart.
Passengers screamed and frantically ducked behind their seats as the reality of the hijacking set in.
The flight attendant's eyes were no longer panicked, but filled with a lethal, highly trained focus.
She told Evelyn that her son was a traitor to their syndicate, and he was never going to receive the cure.
Evelyn did not flinch or beg for her life in front of the armed operative.
Instead, she calculated the distance between herself and the weapon with decades of combat experience.
The airplane's wheels lifted off the runway, causing a steep incline that threw the attendant slightly off balance.
In a fraction of a second, Evelyn stepped inside the woman's guard and struck her wrist with a brutal palm strike.
The ceramic pistol clattered to the floor, sliding far down the angled aisle.
Evelyn grabbed the attendant by the collar and slammed her hard against the overhead luggage compartment.
She demanded to know who ordered the assassination of her son.
The attendant only laughed, spitting blood onto the pristine cabin wall.
Suddenly, a tall man wearing a business suit stood up from the front row.
He reached under his jacket and pulled out a standard-issue federal firearm.
The passengers gasped in relief, shouting for the Air Marshal to arrest the crazy flight attendant.
The Air Marshal marched down the aisle, his weapon raised and his badge clearly visible.
Evelyn tightened her grip on the attendant, relieved that federal backup was finally on the scene.
She instructed the Marshal to secure the operative and recover the stolen medical vial.
The Marshal stopped just three feet away, his expression completely unreadable.
He slowly lowered his aim from the flight attendant and pointed his gun directly at Evelyn's forehead.
He clicked the safety off and ordered the grandmother to let his partner go.

Evelyn realized with absolute horror that the federal agent was part of the same deadly syndicate.
Before Evelyn could react, the Marshal placed his finger firmly on the trigger.
