Chapter 2 - The Hidden Truth
Lily stared down the dark barrel of the gun.
Her heart hammered violently against her bruised ribs.
She forced herself to speak through the agonizing pain in her stomach.
She told Victor that Serena was lying to him.
She begged him to check the security cameras in the hallway to see what really happened.
Serena quickly interjected with a fake tremble in her voice.
She reminded Victor that the security system was down for maintenance today.
A cold smirk danced across Serena's flawless face.
She thought she had thought of absolutely everything.
But Lily had a secret of her own.
She told Victor about the hidden nanny cam she had bought last week.
It was concealed inside the blue stuffed bear in Ethan's nursery.
Victor lowered his weapon slightly.
His dark eyes shifted from Lily to his frantic fiancée.
He ordered his guards to drag both women up to the nursery immediately.
They marched up the grand staircase in tense silence.
Lily prayed the camera had captured the truth of the assault.
Victor kicked the nursery door open and walked over to the wooden crib.
He reached inside to grab the blue stuffed bear.
His jaw clenched in sudden fury.
