Chapter 9 - The Sprint

Chloe and I bolted from the house and jumped into her car.
I dialed the hospital security desk, but the line went straight to an automated machine.
Chloe ran three red lights, the engine roaring as we flew toward the medical center.

I burst into Lily’s room just as the man was turning to leave.
I tackled him to the floor, knocking over a tray of medical instruments.
He fought back, punching me in the ribs, but the adrenaline made me numb to the pain.
Security guards rushed in and pinned the man down.
They ripped the surgical mask off his face.
