Chapter 8 - The Screen
Chloe kicked Claire’s weapon away and locked the apartment door.
I stared at my husband’s mistress in complete shock.
Chloe explained that Mark had planned to frame her for the poisoning from the very beginning.
He used her brother’s gambling debt as a cover story to make her look like a desperate killer.
She had followed me to Claire’s apartment to tell me the truth.
She said the real proof was hidden on a secure server on Mark’s encrypted laptop.
We rushed back to my house, sneaking past the police tape at the back door.
I booted up Mark's laptop, using the master password he didn't know I had.
Files upon files of financial ruin and forged documents filled the screen.
Then a live video window popped up on the desktop.
It was a hidden camera feed.
The angle was looking down from the ceiling of a hospital room.
May you like
Lily’s hospital room.
We watched as a man wearing surgical scrubs walked into the frame, holding a syringe.
