Chapter 6 - The Confrontation

The diner suddenly felt entirely too small and suffocating.
I stared at my husband, feeling like I was looking at a complete stranger.
I demanded to know why he would secretly co-sign a massive loan for the sister who treated us like garbage.
Greg looked down at his hands and admitted his mother had begged him to do it to save Rachel from eviction.
He swore he was going to tell me, but he knew we were saving up for the house renovations and the new TV.
I felt violently sick to my stomach.
Our dream renovations and our expensive TV were nothing compared to the massive debt hanging over our heads.
Mark looked at Greg with pity and told him Rachel hadn't used the money for rent.
He pulled out another photo showing Rachel getting out of a brand-new luxury SUV.
She had conned Greg to buy herself a sports car while letting her kids break our things.
I grabbed the papers, stood up, and stormed out of the diner without waiting for Greg.
I drove straight to Eleanor's house, knowing Rachel practically lived there on the weekends.
I kicked the front door open, not caring if it was locked or not.
Rachel and Eleanor were sitting on the couch, sipping wine and laughing.
I slammed the loan documents and the car photos down on the glass coffee table.
Rachel's smile vanished instantly, and she dropped her wine glass.
Eleanor stood up, trying to block my path, but I pushed right past her.
I told Rachel she was going to sell the car, pay off the loan, and buy my TV, or I was going to the FBI for wire fraud.
Rachel just looked at me and started to laugh slowly.
She reached under a cushion and pulled out a digital tablet.

She pressed a button, and the television on the wall turned on, showing a live security feed.
The feed was inside my house.
