Chapter 7 - The Desperate Alliance

The heavy pounding against the front door grew increasingly more aggressive and violent.
"They are going to use a battering ram to breach the locks in exactly two minutes," Marcus warned frantically.
Marcus rushed quickly to his bedroom closet and opened a highly concealed emergency fire escape hatch.
"Take the boy down the metal ladder to the alleyway, I will completely stall them," Marcus ordered bravely.
Adrian hugged his loyal friend tightly, promising to absolutely repay this massive debt if they survived.
He securely carried Noah down the rusty fire escape just as the heavy front door violently exploded open above them.
They sprinted rapidly through the damp, trash-filled alleyway and disappeared completely into the busy morning crowds.
Adrian realized that physical legal documents were absolutely no longer enough to stop Vivian's massive influence.
He desperately needed a living, breathing witness to completely expose Vivian's incredibly elaborate conspiracy.
The only person alive who could totally destroy Vivian's legal claim was Clara, the woman in the red dress.
Adrian used a stolen burner phone to track down Clara's deeply hidden residential address in the slum district.
They arrived at a dilapidated apartment building that looked entirely abandoned and severely neglected.
Adrian kicked the flimsy wooden door open and stepped cautiously into the dark, incredibly messy room.
Clara was frantically packing a large duffel bag with thick stacks of foreign currency and fake passports.
A heavily loaded, suppressed handgun was resting openly on the small wooden kitchen table.
She jumped in pure terror when she saw Adrian, instinctively reaching for the deadly weapon.
"Do not touch that gun, Clara, I just need your help," Adrian pleaded softly, raising his empty hands.
Clara burst into heavy, uncontrollable tears and entirely collapsed onto the dirty floor.
"You have absolutely no idea what you have just walked into, Adrian," she sobbed with pure, unadulterated fear.
She explained that Vivian had just placed a massive, million-dollar bounty on all of their heads.
"She hired the most ruthless syndicate in the city to murder us before the sun completely sets," Clara revealed darkly.
Adrian refused to accept defeat, his eyes burning with absolute, undeniable determination.
"You are going to help me expose her to the federal authorities right now, or we all die today," Adrian commanded fiercely.
Clara slowly wiped her tears and pulled a small, silver digital audio recorder from her packed bag.
"I secretly recorded Vivian completely admitting to the entire fraudulent plot and the murders," Clara confessed proudly.

Suddenly, a small, highly advanced drone hovered silently right outside the broken apartment window.
A bright red laser sight instantly locked directly onto Noah's small, trembling chest.
