Chapter 6 - The Forged Empire
The massive search spotlight of the helicopter pierced violently through the shattered cabin window.
The deafening roar of the military-grade aircraft shook the small wooden cabin to its very foundation.
"They have thermal imaging cameras, we cannot hide in the woods anymore," Adrian yelled over the chaotic noise.
He grabbed the vital legal documents and stuffed them securely into his wet jacket pocket.
He picked up the unconscious caretaker's truck keys from the kitchen counter and grabbed Noah's hand tightly.
They rushed out the back door just as heavily armed mercenaries began repelling rapidly from the hovering helicopter.
Adrian threw Noah into the passenger seat of the rusted pickup truck and started the loud engine immediately.
He drove aggressively through the dark, overgrown logging trails, completely avoiding the main paved roads.
They successfully managed to lose the pursuing helicopter in the incredibly dense, mountainous terrain.
Adrian drove relentlessly toward the city center to find Marcus, his most trusted corporate lawyer and lifelong friend.
They arrived at Marcus's high-rise luxury apartment building just as the morning sun began to rise.
Marcus opened his heavy mahogany door wearing a silk bathrobe, looking completely shocked by their ruined appearance.
"Adrian, the entire city police force is aggressively looking for you right now," Marcus warned with pure panic.
He quickly pulled them inside the luxurious penthouse and locked the heavy security deadbolts securely.
Adrian handed Marcus the ancient legal documents proving Vivian's entire life was a massive, calculated fraud.
Marcus adjusted his expensive glasses and read the fragile papers with incredibly wide, terrified eyes.
"This perfectly explains why Vivian was so incredibly desperate to force you out of the picture tonight," Marcus deduced quietly.
Marcus immediately walked over to his secure computer terminal to check the city's official legal registry.
He furiously typed complex passwords to access the deeply confidential family court database.
His face completely drained of all color as the digital screen loaded the most recent court filings.
"Adrian, I am so incredibly sorry to tell you this terrible news," Marcus whispered in absolute horror.
"The emergency family court judge just officially approved the custody transfer exactly one hour ago."
Vivian's high-priced lawyers had successfully used the forged signature to legally strip Adrian of all his parental rights.
According to the strict law, Vivian was now Noah's legal guardian, and Adrian was officially a dangerous kidnapper.

Heavy, aggressive pounding suddenly echoed violently against the front door of the penthouse.
"Open the door immediately, this is the city police department," a loud, authoritative voice demanded from the hallway.
