Chapter 9 - The Falling Steel

The massive shipping container plummeted toward the dock with a terrifying screech of tearing metal.
Giulietta dove forward with every ounce of speed she possessed.
The ten-ton steel box crashed onto the wooden pier, completely destroying the spot where she had been standing a second ago.
The impact sent splintered wood and metal shrapnel flying into the air.
Giulietta rolled across the rough planks, her suit torn and her shoulder screaming in pain.
The crash was the signal her street soldiers had been waiting for.
Dante and the fighters emerged from the shadows, opening fire on Silvio's corrupt capos.
The pier instantly turned into a chaotic war zone.
Viktor Petrov and his Russian guards retreated onto their yacht, deciding to let the Italians slaughter each other.
Giulietta pushed herself off the ground, ignoring the ringing in her ears.
She saw Silvio desperately crawling toward a small speedboat tied to the other side of the pier.
He was trying to abandon his own men and flee the country.
Giulietta picked up a dropped handgun from the floor and limped after him.
"You do not get to run away from this, Silvio!" she yelled over the gunfire.
Silvio reached the speedboat and fumbled with the engine keys.
He looked back and saw Giulietta aiming her weapon at his chest.
"You are too weak to kill your own blood, Giulietta!" he taunted her.
"Your father always said you had too much mercy in your heart!"
Giulietta's face remained completely cold and devoid of any emotion.
"My father is dead because of my mercy," she stated firmly.
She pulled the trigger, shooting Silvio perfectly in both of his kneecaps.
He screamed in agony and collapsed into the bottom of the small boat.
Giulietta jumped into the boat and grabbed him by the collar of his expensive shirt.
"Where is my father's body?" she demanded furiously.
Silvio gasped for air, coughing up blood onto his chin.
"He isn't dead," Silvio laughed weakly.
"I kept him alive in a warehouse across the river so I could torture him for the offshore bank codes."
Giulietta felt a massive surge of hope flood her entire soul.
"Give me the exact address right now," she ordered.
Silvio smiled a bloody, wicked smile.
"I will tell you, but the warehouse is rigged with explosives on a timer."

He looked at the broken Rolex on his wrist.
"And you only have exactly four minutes left before the building turns to ash."
